On June 1, 2009, new ID requirements for crossing the U.S. and Canadian border by land or sea will be in effect. These rules are based on the U.S. Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), and require a passport, a U.S. Passport Card, NEXUS, or an Enhanced Driver's License are acceptable forms of ID for crossing the U.S. Canadian border.
