All roads lead to Virginia Beach. When approaching from the west, the easiest routes are Interstate 64, U.S. 460 or U.S. 58. From the north and south, convenient routes are Interstates 85 or 95, U.S. 17 and U.S. 13 (crossing the world-famous Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel, a 17-mile span connecting Virginia's Eastern Shore with Virginia Beach). These routes intersect with Interstate 64, which connects with the Virginia Beach-Norfolk Expressway, Interstate 264, and leads directly to the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

By Air

Norfolk International Airport is 20 minutes from the oceanfront and is serviced by most major U.S. carriers, www.takeorf.com , (757) 857-3351. If you choose to arrive at the Norfolk International Airport you may then get to Virginia Beach by the airport shuttle. As of January 2009, the price of a one-way shuttle trip to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront was approximately $39.00.

Newport News/ Williamsburg International Airport, www.NNWairport.com , (757) 877-0221, also services the area. Airport Express provides ground transportation from the airport to your hotel, (757) 857-5950. Three companies - AirTran, Delta, and US Airways - make flights to a smaller local airport in Newport News/Williamsburg (http://www.nnwairport.com/). The airport has car rentals in it, and is served by taxi, but has no direct public transportation to Virginia Beach. Dependent upon the traffic, it may take you from 45 min to an hour to drive from the airport to the Virginia Beach oceanfront.

By Train

An Amtrak train connection is available in Newport News, a neighboring city to Virginia Beach. Amtrak bus service is available between the train station and 19th Street and Pacific Avenue. Reservations are required. Call Amtrak at 800-USA-RAIL (800-872-7245).

Water is never far away in Virginia Beach.
