First Landing Foundation Four hundred years ago on April 26, 1607, the English settlers who would go on to found Jamestown made their First Landing at Cape Henry. The Historic Villages at Cape Henry have been carefully recreated on Fort Story and you are invited to travel back in time and watch history come alive.

A Native American village welcomes you as you travel through beautiful wooded, winding paths full of cultural history. On trails amid live oak trees, journey into the past as tribal members build canoes, cure meats, and share stories of ancestral history. As you complete your journey through the village, a clearing reveals a 17th century colonial outpost. History truly comes alive in this village.

A live play recreating the first landing starts at 6 pm Thursday-Sunday. Open seasonally.

Thurs through Sunday and take a picturesque stroll back in time.  Tour the authentic 17th century colonial outpost, complete with watchtower, palisade, church, general store, trading post and more, plus walk the winding paths of historical trails within the American Indian village as our docents describe  tribal practices, such as building canoes, curing meats and story-telling.

SUMMER SESSION Learn Irish Dancing from the award winning Rhythm of Ireland (ROI) School of Irish Dance. ROI is accredited by the Irish Dance Commission of Dublin, Ireland. The Rhythm of Ireland's director and past Irish Dance champion, Debbie Souza-Bristol TCRG, has trained 100s of local children the beautiful Irish step dancing from beginners to champions and world class Irish dancers. The summer session is for children 5 - 12 years. No experience necessary. Come join the fun!
