Do you have what it takes to compete in an ultimate beach vacation?
Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureauannounced today, a national call for entries for the
Virginia Beach Adventure Race SM, September 18th -19th, 2010 – an unprecedented event that pits family vs. family in a series of action-packed challenges and adventures throughout the resort city with one lucky team taking home a $10,000 Grand Prize. Unlike any family vacation Clark Griswold could have imagined, the zany weekend escapade will showcase the
activities and outdoor adventuresthat define Virginia Beach. Registration opens today at
www.vbadventurerace.com. Only 10 teams of four people will be selected through an online random drawing to compete in the Virginia Beach Adventure Race.
On the first day, teams will battle the wave in a “Beach and Sea Relay” and search for a coveted clue on a wild “Scavenger Hunt” throughout the resort city. The five teams with the highest scores at the end of the first day advance to the second round of events that will take place on September 19th. During the second day of challenges, teams will demonstrate their culinary creativity by preparing a “breakfast of champions” using only locally grown ingredients. Teams will navigate an obstacle course blind-folded on a surrey—a four-person bicycle—for the final event of the competition. The two-day series of events will culminate in an awards ceremony. The team with the most points will take home the $10,000 grand prize.
“The Virginia Beach Adventure Race will not only host 10 lucky teams and provide them with the opportunity to experience what it means to Live the Life, but will showcase the attractions and adventures that can be enjoyed by all Virginia Beach visitors, “said Jim Ricketts, Executive Director Virginia Beach CVB.
